chapter 2 breakdown

Cracking on with chapter 2 and already things are coming apart at the seems. Plotholes are creeping in and I don't know what to do about them, a chunk of story about an expedition to a cave isn't fitting as well as I'd hoped and....ARGH THE PLOTHOLES. Most specifically, something I really wanted this book to do was gradually show what a badass Oak is...but straight away I'm establishing that he got his position in the society by overthrowing an entire criminal organisation. If I bin that idea, loads of other plot points don't work. WHAT SHOULD I DO!?

Oh well, I came up with the "soggy retort of lukewarm vanilla" so it's not all bad.

LOL. CAT.

2/10. Must try harder.

Comedy cat bank

On top of missing that chunk of chapter one, I've realised a document I have detailing every plot point I need to include, is also missing. Hopefully also at work, but can't start Chapter 2 til then, so if I write this weekend it'll be the prologue I guess. Not especially looking forward to that, but needs done to establish some important things about the world before the story really starts.

Also realised it only took 2 posts yesterday, and already a picture of a cat. That's what the internet does to people. I've let the side down though and there's no captioning. I don't know if the internet will accept my cat picture into it's comedy-cat-bank without some garbled text about cheeseburgers. Wait there a minute, I'll sort it..

Chapter 1 complete for now

Chapter 1 is done!

Basically, sort of. Punctuation is still messy but that's more of an admin task. I'd like to tidy up the transitions between scenes and maybe squeeze a bit more humour in, but if I'm unprepared to move on until I'm 100% happy, I might never start chapter 2. So I'm going to leave it for now, stamp it as complete and probably return to it in the future with fresh eyes.

After typing the above I went and changed a load of stuff, I've also remembered a bit about Amanda and Mort and a dragons talon that I've left at work. Bit annoying.

Bear on Wheels

The Olympics moved channel about 20 minutes ago and I'm in such a daze I didn't even notice I've been watching a program about antiques since then instead. It was only when a stuffed bear on wheels turned up I realised it wasn't the Mens Boxing quarter final any more.
The amount of writing it's taken to fizzle my brain that much? 200 words. Maybe more tea will help.
Cat's still asleep in the same spot. Lazy.

Virtual Trains

Wish it was raining, I think the noise the would help me write. I put "rain simulator" into google and all it's showing me is "rail simulator" games. Looks like there's quite a good one for a twenty quid on amazon if you're into that kind of thing.

Chapter 1 nearly done

Not gone to work today so spending the day writing my novel. Have Chapter 1 basically sorted but needs work, jokes to be added and bad grammar to tidy up. It's all over the place actually. Olympics are on which is good cause they aren't too distracting. Cat's asleep, time for a cup of tea then to work! Will definitely finish chapter 1 today, definitely.
(Included that so if I do complete it I'll look determined and good and if I don't I can say it was intentional for comedy)
